Giving Thanks for the Rewards of Growing Older

Gracious God, we give thanks for the rewards of growing older:

• for the joy of grandparenting
• for opportunities to travel
• for a sense of self that’s more defined and better accepted
• for free time and getting to choose what to do
• for trying new things
• for opportunities to read and learn​

• for time to volunteer at church and other places
• for flexibility and not having a schedule
• for increased perspective
• for an accumulation of richness from life
• for getting to go outside for recess
• for freedom and letting go of filters
• for role models and people who inspire us
• for soundtracks for our lives
• for discounts and Social Security
• for a new understanding of losing a life in order to find a life

 For all these rewards—and so many others—we give thanks. Amen.
